Hi folks.
We only had a handful of people this week. The upside of small groups is the conversation is more relaxed and intimate. In bigger groups people ask questions more carefully since they know many folks are listening, but with a small group it’s easier to be honest and direct. This is part of why I like these office hours: it’s always a little different and I never know what the focus is going to be.
This time the focus was on searching for jobs. We spent most of the hour talking about the grueling psychology of looking and shared some advice and perspective.
Here’s my video recap:
Rage quitting
Double edged sword of diversity of UX skills
The pain of lack of feedback in interviews
The value of taking breaks and taking control
The special value of doing UX work for yourself and publishing it
Macro market trends and impact on jobs
The disappointment of Linkedin
I keep missing these. Is there a sign up page?
